Introduction
SatComms ("we", "our", "us") operates the SatComms mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use SatComms:
- Account information: Email address and password (used for authentication)
- Display name: A name you choose to identify yourself to team members
- Team data: Team names, membership information, and team settings
- Chat messages: Text messages sent within team chat
- Voice messages: On Pro Plus teams, push-to-talk transmissions are recorded and stored as playable voice messages in team chat. Voice messages are automatically deleted after 30 days unless pinned by a team member.
- Location data: If your team has the live map feature enabled (Pro Plus), your precise GPS location is collected and shared with your team members in real time. Location data is stored only while actively sharing and is removed when you leave a team or delete your account. You can disable location sharing at any time from the team settings.
- Usage data: Online/offline status and last seen timestamps
Information We Do Not Collect
- Contacts: We do not access or sync your contacts
- Analytics: We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your account and maintain your session
- To enable push-to-talk communication between team members
- To deliver team chat messages
- To send invite emails when you invite someone to your team
- To show online/offline presence to your team members
Third-Party Services
SatComms uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, real-time database, and cloud functions. Firebase Privacy Policy
- LiveKit: Real-time audio communication (self-hosted). Audio is transmitted peer-to-peer or relayed through our TURN server and is not stored.
- SendGrid (Twilio): Email delivery for team invitations. Twilio Privacy Policy

Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Firebase Realtime Database, hosted by Google Cloud Platform in the United States. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL. Audio communication uses WebRTC with DTLS-SRTP encryption.
Data Retention
Your account data and chat messages are retained as long as your account is active. If you leave a team, your membership data for that team is removed. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
SatComms is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "last updated" date.
